Bird life along the River Thames is a joy to behold with a large variety of birds both large and small, including the Kingfisher.  These stunning birds are to be found by still or slow flowing water and are unmistakable with their bright blue and orange plumage. From their riverside perches they fly rapidly over water and hunt fish, occasionally hovering over the water’s surface. They are protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. You can see kingfishers all year round and occasionally they may visit your garden pond if you are lucky!
