Wiltshire fields of rapeseed

To my mind one of the most beautiful sights of the English countryside in springtime are the endless fields of yellow Rapeseed.   Rapeseed grows in abundance across acres of land from April onwards for about 4 months, including in my favourite county of Wiltshire.  Also known as rape or oilseed rape it is cultivated mainly for its oil-rich seed and used as edible vegetable oils, animal feed, and bio-diesel. Rapeseed is the third-largest source of vegetable oil and the second-largest source of protein meal in the world after soybean.
